Awareness Days For The Plastic Smart Cities 2030 Initiative

As part of the ongoing collaboration between Living Planet Morocco (LPM) and Tanja Marina Bay International (TMBI), a two-day event will be held to raise awareness and engage local stakeholders in the fight against plastic pollution. This event follows on from the efforts undertaken as part of the Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) initiative, which aims to significantly reduce plastic pollution in coastal urban areas.
Objectives :
Raise awareness among local stakeholders of the problem of plastic pollution and promote good plastic management practices.
Engage local stakeholders in concrete initiatives to reduce plastic pollution, building on the results and experiences of previous projects such as PSC Tangier.
Educate and raise awareness among children about the importance of protecting the environment, using fun activities to strengthen their understanding and commitment.

Programme Provisoire :
Day 1: Stakeholder Awareness and Engagement Workshops
Morning (10am to 12pm)
– Participants : Representatives of the Marina’s restaurants, cafés, shops as well as those of the city’s hotels.
9.30am – 10am: Registration and welcome of participants (50 people)
10am: Opening remarks and presentation of the Marina’s efforts, announcement of the Blue Flag award (by TMBI)
10.30am: Presentation on plastic pollution in the Mediterranean, activities and results of the Plastic Smart Cities Tangiers project (by LPM)
11am: Coffee break
11.10am: Discussion on how to adopt and generalise good practice in the management of plastic in the marina.
11.45am: Closing session and visit to TMBI’s waste recovery unit


Afternoon (3pm to 5pm)
Participants : TMBI boaters (20 people)
2.30pm – 3pm: Registration and welcome of participants
3pm: Opening remarks and presentation of the Marina’s efforts, announcement of the Blue Flag award (by TMBI)
3.30pm: Presentation on plastic pollution in the Mediterranean, activities and results of the Plastic Smart Cities Tangiers project (by LPM)

4.10pm: Discussion on how to adopt and generalise eco-responsible boating practices
4.45pm: Closing session and visit to TMBI’s waste recovery unit




Day 2: Activities and awareness-raising for children
Awareness-raising stands and games for visiting children accompanied by their parents. Awareness-raising videos and posters, fishing game, whale game, photocall and medals.
